Did you plan your whole honeymoon?
did you guys plan everything? like what you were going to do each day or did you just go with the flow?
my fiance and I really want to go to Sydney Australia, we’re not the type of couple whose into spas and all that. So we just want to stay in the city, check out the local beaches and go to the local skate parks and board it up. We’re thinking of planning a couple of day trips but also thought itd be just as cool to do everything spur of the moment.
what did you do? just curious to see what others did :]

honeymoons shouldnt be planned, they should as spontanious as possible because everything in your marriage is basically gonna be planned!
enjoy..
good luck and congrats!!
=)
We never had one. Why?? He was in the Air Force and was being shipped out.
My husband and I went to Alaska on our honeymoon and I planned every day. If you go to the beach… there is nothing to really plan. But if you are going somewhere totally new, why wouldn’t you plan? You are spending a ton of money so you better see and do everything!
We are not a “relax on the beach” type of couple. We had a blast doing everything we possibly could. It was good to have it planned out too or we would have missed some cool stuff when we got there! But we also left some time open for “romancing” :)
Spontaneous is great, but realize that the things that you think are really cool will probably be what the majority of other people also think are really cool so they will probably fill up fast.
I’d recommend scheduling 2-3 big events that you really want to do for the rest of the week the first day you’re there so that you’re sure to be able to do them. If you’re going for 7ish days that’s only one planned event every other day, leaving tons of free time to do whatever.
My husband and I went on a cruise, so in a lot of ways the agenda was already pre-planned for us. We did sign up for shore excursions at each port, but apart from that, we simply enjoyed what the ship had to offer. There were a lot of activities to choose from, and we largely just did what we felt like on any particular day. It was a nice mix of flexibility and set activities.
Yes we planned it out together. We actually took 2 honeymoons. The first one we just travelled up north in our state to a lovely bed and breakfast located on a vineyard and spent a few days there. Then we drove up further north to one of the nicest getaways our state has to offer.
Our second honeymoon, we went 2 years later – to Greece. That was simply amazing.
If you’re going to go to Sydney, you have to at least plan to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge!
Ive never done it myself but I ear its amazing!
I have been to the Opera House though, another must see on your trip to Sydney!
Congrats!
Yeah…I did all this research ahead of time on the Riviera Maya and picked out all of these places really cool places that I wanted to see like the cenotes or swimming with dolphins. And then we got married….my head was spinning so much from the wedding that I couldn’t fall asleep on my wedding night. Then it took until about the 2nd or 3rd day on our honeymoon that my head finally stopped spinning. We took two excursions that week and spent most of the rest of the time at the swim up bar just outside of our room. That was plenty.
my fiance and I are planning to plan it ourselves.
whenever we plan trips abroad we figure out where (which city) we would like to base in and for how many days. we find accomodation, and we find a train or bus schedule so that we know our options getting there and leaving.
aside from that we do research before we leave about what we might like to see while we are there (ie. Colosseum, Vatican, Fontana di Trevi, Villa D’Este for Rome) but we don’t book anything ahead of time, nor do we plan out each day.
basically when we arrive we have a list in hand of what sights to see or what things there are to do (wander, go to the beach, snorkel, whatever) and decide either the night before or that morning.
it works well for us, keeps us low stress, and we really get to enjoy our vacation, more than if we tried to keep a schedule. this way the trip really is tailor-made to us… it’s always worked out well in the past.
