Honeymoon in Greece need help planning ?

I am planning my Honeymoon in Greece and wanted to know whats the best way to make this happen. We hate following a tourist group and like to do thing on our own, we love the freedom. I was thinking of staying in Santorini and taking Day trips to Athens and the other island. Would that be a good idea? Else if I where to focus on 3 Islands which once should they be? Our trip is for 8 days Your advice will be valued so dont feel shy.

I was in Greece last December. We stayed in Athens and it was fabulous, our hotel was right below the Acropolis. You could look out your window at night and see the Acropolis all lit up. It was like something out of a story book. I went with all travel agents and we had a ball. The people are very pleasant. In downtown athens, they have the market where you can buy a ton of things. Their silver jewelry is very inexpensive. Santorini, Mykonos, and Rhodes are all honeymoon paradises. Instead of going with a group, plan the entire trip yourself. Stay in hotels that are 4 star or better due to their location. You can plan your daytrips with the Concierge of the hotel, they tell you which are the best places and the ones to stay away from. Go into your local AAA office and get a Europe Travel guide, if you are a member, they are free.

Ok, first of all the best time of year to go is during the summer. I have found that then, you can enjoy a million things more than you can during the winter like now.
I would start off with a day in Athens. You would be suprised with what Athens has to offer. Go to the Acropolis and to the Plaka. It is amazing there. And I wouldn’t go on a tour either. It ruins the fun.
Next, take a two rest at Santorini. I have never been there but I have heard that it is so beautiful there and there is a lot of partying, too.
Go to Leukada, you will love it there! I have been there and I can guarantee you will love it there, too.
Also go to Crete, I have heard it is so pretty there, my aunt and my friends are from there, and they say that it is beautiful.
I love Greece and you will love it, too because it has great cuisine and beautiful islands to offer!

I have never been to Santorini, but everyone who has been there says it’s fantastic. So you have made a good choice. HOWEVER….if you want to go to Athens, it’s going to have to be more than a day trip. You won’t have time to go to Athens and back in one day. You won’t have time to see anything!! I assume your trip will start in Athens? Stay there for a day or two, then go on to Santorini and visit the neighboring islands.

go to PATMOS and visit also the smal islands of ARKI and LIPSI .you need 1 h from patmos
