I plan to take a cruise to Alaska in July for my Honeymoon. Which Cruiseliner is better? Princess or Norweigen?
We are in our 30′s and this will be our first time cruising.

Princess is well known for being outstanding on their Alaskan cruises. In fact toady, I booked my second Alaskan cruise for this August on Princess. I have heard about a lot of complaints with Norwegian on cruise critic, but perhaps they have improved. Anyways, I love Princess.
I have been on over 30 cruises and 8 different cruise lines. Princess over Norwegian by a mile. Princess also is the only line that brings on board the 1st woman to have won the Iditorod.
Was just on NCL to see if it had improved since my last dismal experience and it had not. Their signature free style dining is so poor that you are forced to go to a pay extra restraunt to get a decent meal. Cabin was not clean. Go Princess.
Our very first cruise was to Alaska on Princess.
Our last cruise was 3 weeks ago on NCL.
Scoring for your Alaska Cruise Princess 100/100
NCL 1/100
Be prepared to spend a fortune on helicoptering, white water rafting etc.
We have been everywhere since on all sizes of ship and lines, Alaska is still near the top.
If you aren’t a “beach” fanatic (neither for us) the top “tops” is Antarctica in a small +/- 100 person expedition boat. You don’t care about all the shallowness of the big boats with the casinos and floor shows, the best show on earth is there!
Getting in the rubber boats and going ashore and then standing in the middle of 200,000 penguins (very smelly!) is unique.
Cruising through the ice in the LeMaire channel is amazing!
Going to the whaling museum in Gritviken in South Georgia is a real wake up call about how soft we are all nowadays!
Don’t be fooled into going on a big ship there. You will miss everything and be so frustrated as you can’t land!
Great choice for a Honeymoon. Amazing Cruise.
I have sailed both lines to Alaska many times.
Princess is # 1 cruise line to Alaska(travel channel)
They do an outstanding job on their cruise/tours.
Norwegian – to me has a better layout design of their ships.
Everyone has their favorite for different reasons. & with that in mind everyone has different tastes.
Princess is having a big sale right now.
All cruise lines pretty much stop at the same ports of call & spend time at one of the Glaciers.
Personally on a 7 day cruise I would go with either. Norwegian does not do cruise/tours anymore.
ENJOY.
Princess!
I have sailed on both lines and I would go with Princess.
Generally an all round better experience although I have had 2 great cruises with NCL. I still think that Princess is better, especially as they are renowned for the Alaska experience.
Without question, it is Princess Cruise Line. This is Alaska’s 50th anniversary of statehood and a great time to be cruising to our 49th state. If you time and budget permit, consider taking a land-based cruisetour prior or after the cruise portion. Also consider Celebrity or Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
