What to do on a Disney Honeymoon?
We’re trying to plan our honeymoon at Disney World. I want to get an idea of what there is to do besides the theme parks, to make sure that we are making the most out of our time there!
We are staying at the Grand Floridian resort. Any tips/advice/warnings and activity ideas beyond theme parks would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure to include some romantic dinners while you’re at Disney World! They have plenty of fine restaurants to choose from, but you’ll want to make advance reservations (you can make dining reservations up to 180 days in advance and I HIGHLY recommend doing so).
You can check out the local nightlife. There are some really fun spots in Universal CityWalk. There are also dinner shows like Medieval Times (my personal favorite), Arabian Nights and Pirates Dinner Adventure that are kinda cheesy but still a lot of fun.
You’re within an hour of Cocoa Beach, it’s a nice beach and a pretty nice area. If you go there make sure to stop by Ron Jon’s Surf Shop, it’s a really cool place.
Staying at the Grand Floridian you will actually have a lot to occupy your time other than theme parks. There is actually a lot to keep you busy on Disney World property even if you never set foot in one of the parks! Maybe you should look into a fireworks cruise on the lake there, that would be pretty romantic. You can also do fun things like parasailing, horseback riding, etc. Disney World offers so much other than theme parks, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding other things to do while you’re there!
Congrats, you picked a great resort to stay at. Since its a honeymoon, you need to sleep in and not worry about going to the parks super early. You can get up fairly late and still get a fastpass for any major rides that you would like to go on. As for outside the 4 theme parks, be sure to go to a water park, I recommend typhoon lagoon because of the wave pool. As for the best thing to do at disney world at night outside the parks, you MUST go to downtown disney, they used to have a place called pleasure island that was full of night clubs. They shut those down a few years ago and everyone thought that there was no nightlife at disney world. But the truth is, there are several new shops, restaurants, and bars…. YES BARS, with live music and plenty of entertainment. I hope this helped a little, have fun. Oh, and as a side note, be sure to see fireworks at both epcot and magic kingdom, it is worth it.
I first read your question and thought, “… duh, it’s a honeymoon…”
Personally, I’m not a huge Disney fan, but love central Florida.
Downtown Orlando & the Church Street district both have lots of night-life, restaurants, shopping, & attractions.
Lots of good golf in the area also.
On the Atlantic side:
Daytona Beach is worthless unless you’re a “biker” or a NASCAR fan.
Cocoa Beach is lovely; I strongly recommend a visit.
St Augustine is nearly a 2-hour drive to the north & worth it.
There’s some “clothing optional” beach north of Kennedy Space Center & south of New Smyrna Beach… if you’re interested in getting a tan without tan-lines.
On the Gulf side:
The Tampa – St Pete – Clearwater area is an attraction unto itself. A very pretty area.
Congrats, You are staying at one of the best resorts in the area. The Grand Floridian is a spectacular resort. I would really reccomend making a reservation at Victor and Alberts for Dinner. Its central florida ONLY 5 diamond restaurant and certainly deserves that rating.
I would also think about checking out Spirit of Aloha Dinner show at the Polynoesian hotel. Its a fun luau and great show. There is also Cirque Du Soliel La Nuba. If you have never seen a Cirque show you have missed out. its a jaw dropping experience.
I would head off poperty and head to one of the beaches. Cocoa Beach is only abotu 45 mins away and quite nice. Alhtough I would prefer to drive the two hours and head to the gulf coast and hang out on Clearwater beach with its sugar white sand and calm warm waters.
Downtown has some great clubs and restaurants. You will have no shortage of intresting things to do. Ask the concierge at the hotel and they will be more then happy to send you in whatever direction you want.
