I want a small wedding with just close friends and family invited. I want to wear a red ball gown and have my bridesmaids in floor-length ivory silk dresses. My dream, actually, is to get married at the Castle hotel in Orlando, Florida. They have a sunset ceremony on the roof and also a ballroom that would be perfect for the reception, and they’re also pretty cheap. For a Honeymoon, then, we’d spend it at Disney. If I end up marrying my current boyfriend, that would work out well because he loves Disney and we’ve been talking about going together.
I want to walk down the aisle while live instruments play “Something” by The Beatles and have my grandfather escort me. Red and white roses would be the flowers.
My dream scenario would be on the smaller side and low key. I would either want it in the church I regularly go to, or the church I go to while i’m on vacation. I don’t need extravagance and hundreds of thousands of dollars spent, but I’d like it to be traditional with a few personal things added.
I’d want my engagement ring to not be some huge flashy diamond, but something still pretty. I’d want pretty, colorful wildflowers for decoration and my bouquet. And I want a dress with straps/halter/sleeves since I don’t like strapless too much. And I’d want my dress to be beaded and long.
The honeymoon, it honestly doesn’t matter to me.
And of course, my dream wedding would include my man as my groom. In fact, none of the other things really matter when it comes to him, just the marriage would make me the happiest person in the world :)
Well, I had a perfect wedding and a nightmare honeymoon.
We had gorgeous lakeside ceremony with perfect weather. Then went inside for the reception, which was all done out in beautiful hardwoods. We had a live band that was better than any DJ I’ve ever heard. We had siamese fighting fish (with prearranged homes for each, so not to be cruel) in vases with custom embroidered bases that housed an LED light on top of a place mat with matching embroidery as our centerpieces. I wore my Maggie Sottero gown (Jessica) and my husband wore a traditional black tux with white bow tie (I loathe regular ties). The bridesmaids wore knee length empire waist B2 dresses in light blue. My flowers were white and pink carnations. I walked down the aisle to “He’ll Make Me Happy” by Jeff Moss from the movie Muppets Take Manhattan, when Miss Piggy and Kermit get married. We decorated the outdoor ceremony site with simple tulle bows and draping. It was perfect!
Our disastrous honeymoon was 1 week on the island of Kaua’i. I got sick our second day there. We were not thrilled with the island as a whole and not a single person could give us a good recommendation of what to do, where to go or eat! Our first tour was boring and it rained. We went on a charter fishing trip and nobody had even a nibble, not even the guide! My husband has stuff stolen from him at our resort. I bloodied up my knuckles on a wild boat tour and one of the engines died on the boat while we were out! Being sick on the flight home just made me more miserable. We’re now planning little overnight trips to make up for it. We leave this Saturday on our first one.
If we could do it all over again, we wouldn’t change anything about the wedding, but we would go to Disney World for our honeymoon instead! (Both his parents and my parents went to Disney World on their honeymoons).
I want a huge wedding. In a really pretty church. And I want to walk down the aisle with my fiance or by myself, I don’t feel like anyone has the right to “give me away” since I am nobody’s property and do not intend to be given to my husband as property. I want a big white princess gown, and all my friends and family there. And a really pretty big reception with lots of dancing. I’m in the very beginning stages of planning too. And we’re planning a “happily ever after” / Cinderella theme to make it more us. Mainly, I want our wedding to be unique to us and reflect us. And as for the honeymoon, I’m thinking about a secluded cabin in the woods with a hot tub and pretty view, or a really nice beach like hawaii or the bahamas. Again, it depends on your interests and what would make you guys happy.
My perfect wedding would be at the Cathedral.
The reception outside at night in a rose garden, dancing all night with my husband.
The perfect honeymoon would be a cruise to Disneyworld.
lakefront of groom’s family’s house
simple gown, something I can wear again to get my money’s worth
no wedding party, just let our friends wear whatever
no rehearsal but we may have a rehearsal dinner for the heck of it
string trio playing during ceremony
maybe 50 guests, not a ton
short ceremony, then reception at some hotel or something nearby
geez there’s no parking for all those people at the house though…didn’t think of that
we’ll have to hire shuttle buses to bring people in from their hotels I guess! that’s gonna be about as pricey as the strings
short informal reception, good food and dessert but no cake, wedding cake is the worst
then the groom and I are off to the honeymoon suite in the nearest city that has an airport
pull the goalie and honeymoon in either europe or hawaii for 10 days or so.
In my mind I had a dream wedding and honeymoon. While planning my wedding my mother kept joking about going to Gatlinburg and getting married there. Gatlinburg is basically like a Vegas on the East Coast as far as wedding chapels are concerned. I was never amused when she would say that, but then one day I just thought “why not”. So that is where we ended up getting married, in a little white wedding chapel in the Smoky Mountains. Only the people I really loved travelled to see us get married, and I loved that. We all went out to eat afterward and even had a little wedding cake. Then my HUSBAND and I retired to the cabin on the top of the mountain that we had rented and spent the evening in the hot tub overlooking the mountains and city lights. It may sound cheesy, but I loved being a part of the group of many people who travelled around the city with a “Just Married” sign on our car. We plan to return there every anniversary. After we returned home we had a barbecue with 100 guests and I even had my huge dream wedding cake that I had been lusting over for years, thanks to my mother. It as casual and everyone had a blast.
So after all of that was finished, we went on my dream honeymoon to PARIS!! And as a special treat to my husband who had never been to Disney World, I planned a trip to Euro-Disney one of the days we were there. I am not really into tropical locales, but I love history and growing up I always wanted to travel to Paris. So we spent our honeymoon seeing all the city had to offer, which is tons. I really can’t think of anywhere more romantic. We loved spending our evenings at the foot of the Eiffel Tower eating crepes and taking pictures during the light show. We went to the Louvre and saw the Mona Lisa, went to the Notre Dame, the Palace of Versailles, Sacre Couer, took a Siene River cruise, double decker bus tour, and shopped on the Champs Elysees. There were so many other magical moments that we had, just too many to list. And when we came back home we discovered that we returned with a very special souvenir, our daughter.
